Hey, movie fans!

Got a sweet tooth for big-screen horror? The new version of "Candyman" may be your best bet. In her Critic's Pick review, Manohla Dargis calls it a "sharp, shivery redo" of the 1992 film that gave us bee stings and menace. Watch an eerie shadow puppet scene from the movie.

If you'd like additional insect-incorporated scares, you can move on from bees to "Mosquito State," another Critic's Pick, this one featuring a Wall Street analyst who's never quite the same after a mosquito bite. Jeannette Catsoulis calls it "a disquieting merger of body horror and social commentary."

Or you can take it easy with some comedies. Netflix has "He's All That," a gender-flipped reboot of a 1999 hit. And Hulu has the chaotic couples comedy "Vacation Friends," featuring John Cena, Yvonne Orji, Lil Rel Howery and Meredith Hagner.

If you're seeking documentary profiles this weekend, you have plenty of options. Netflix has one about Bob Ross and another about Caitlyn Jenner. Discovery+ has one about the YouTuber and domino artist Lily Hevesh. And you can find a film about the runner Eliud Kipchoge on demand.

Plus, this week we looked back at Alfonso Cuarón's "Y Tu Mamá También," which ignited the careers of its stars. We looked into how movies are extending their plots into videos shown in the queues of theme park rides and we caught up with Ynairaly Simo, the 14-year-old star of the Netflix animated musical "Vivo."

Enjoy the movies!
