On Netflix, Amazon and Disney+
The weekend is here. It's here! Regardless of what streaming service you subscribe to, we want to help you find something great to watch. We've gone through Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ to find the best titles on each service. |
Here's one of the 50 best movies on Netflix |

A 52-year-old Georgian woman shocks her family, and her entire community, when she decides to move out of the cramped apartment she shares with her husband, children and parents in order to begin a life of her own. "In this world, there are no families without problems," she is told, and the conflicts of the script by Nana Ekvtimishvili (who also directed, with Simon Gross) are a sharp reminder that while the cultural specifics may vary, familial guilt and passive aggression are bound by no language. Manohla Dargis praised its "sardonically funny, touching key." |

Created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato ("Money Heist"), this rocket-paced Spanish action-adventure series follows three prostitutes who get in desperate trouble and flee their brothel, with the creeps who run the business in hot pursuit. Verónica Sánchez, Lali Espósito and Yany Prado play the women, whose difficult pasts and deep secrets are revealed during their tense and violent journey through the underworld. In an interview with the creators, Elisabeth Vincentelli wrote, "The show is a sensory overload that sometimes feels as if Quentin Tarantino were directing a long-form video for Versace." |
Have a Hulu subscription? It's a lot to wade through. We can help! |
| Sally Hawkins in "The Shape of Water." Kerry Hayes/20th Century Fox |

This gleeful, romantic and "altogether wonderful" stew of monster movie, fairy tale and Cold War thriller from Guillermo del Toro won four Oscars, including for best director and best picture. Sally Hawkins stars as a mute cleaning woman at a government research lab who accidentally glimpses, and becomes enchanted by, a mysterious sea monster with a marked resemblance to the monster in "Creature From the Black Lagoon." As she moves from curiosity to emotional attachment, she must find a way to free the creature from his prison, and from the sadistic government agent (Michael Shannon) who wants to destroy him. |
Amazon Prime Video doesn't make it easy to find stuff. Luckily, we have done the work for you. |
| Winona Ryder as Jo March in "Little Women" (1994).Columbia Pictures/NBC |

Louisa May Alcott's classic novel "Little Women" isn't a stranger to movie adaptations — early versions date clear back to the silent era — but this engaging take from the director Gillian Armstrong ("My Brilliant Career") adroitly pitches the film to modern audiences. Handsomely staged and marvelously acted, this is a first-rate introduction to one of the great works of young adult literature. |
Disney+ is full of older classics. But there are a lot of newer things to watch as well. |

'The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers' |
Disney's middling sports-comedy franchise gets a boost from the "Cobra Kai" treatment, with the once-scrappy Mighty Ducks hockey team now a joyless pee-wee juggernaut and its former coach, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), now a grizzled, cranky, down-on-his-luck rink owner. But it's Lauren Graham who ties the series together as an earnest mother who wants sports to fun again, so she builds a hockey team around her son, populated by misfits who barely know how to skate. The rest of this underdog scenario more or less writes itself. |
