Or an upbeat stand-up special
Starz has ordered a seventh season of "Outlander," though it will be a while before it makes its way to air; Season 6 is currently in production but does not yet have a release date. |
Have a safe and funky week. |

Season 2 of this British series is now streaming, and it's a treat for anyone who likes smart, perceptive ensemble shows. "The Split" follows a family of divorce lawyers who have plenty of spicy conflict and marital woes among themselves — but the show leans away from soapiness and toward authenticity. I recommend this often to fans of "The Good Wife" or "The Good Fight," but you don't have to love lawyer shows per se to be into it: If you like longing stares or the horny torture of sexy secrets, or if you like dramas that feel like sitting in a comfy chair while wearing fancy clothes, give this a go. There are only 12 total episodes, and the upcoming third season will be the show's last. |

'Nate Bargatze: The Greatest Average American' |
This is Nate Bargatze's second Netflix special, and it's just as warm and charming as the first. He covers the dumb arguments he still replays in his head, his newly-emerging claustrophobia and some of the goofy ins and outs of child rearing, including learning from his own daughter's homework and the baffling ways children sleep. ("If you woke up upside down tomorrow, you'd go to the hospital.") Bargatze plays up his everyman-ness, but his lack of nastiness and self-pity are plenty distinctive. |
